Review of the iPad

Ipad... Sounds great, doesn't it. The truth is that it is. On first glance it looks like merely a large Ipod touch with 3g (optional). The truth is that the entire interface of the ipad is completely different from that of the iphone / ipod touch. Lets list some of these.

Changes
1. Wallpaper - So the first change that comes into mind would probably be that the home screen earlier had a black background with no other background option as opposed to the Ipad which has a customizable background.

2. Orientation - Next, You'd probably notice that no matter which screen you're on, home screen, music, mail, maps, lock screen, etc all can be held either landscape or potrait. The Ipad will change its orientation (incredibly sensitive by the way) to suit your posture. Essentially, there's no right or wrong way to hold it.

3. The Locked Screen - (The main screen where it says "slide to unlock") has an additional button which will start a slideshow of all the phtos on your ipad. Similar to a digital photoframe.

4. Apps - Oh yeah! That's what you were waiting for, wasn't it ? Anyway, there's over 150,000 apps (and counting) on the app store which work with the ipad.

5. Accessibility - Many more options such as zoom in ANY screen, inverted colors (white on black), voice over and more...

6. Hi-resolution screen - Okay, THAT is probably the first thing that you would notice. With IPS display, you can view the ipad at an angle upto 178 degrees with excellent screen color and contrast.

7. Inbuilt Microphone and Bluetooth - Comes preloaded with bluetooth 2.1 + EDR and an inbuilt microphone as well as external speakers.

8. Larger Screen Advantages - Keyboard Size is almost the same as that of a mac notebook (macbook, macbook pro, etc) and large screen makes pinch and zoom controls very easy, as well as making zooming in webpages almost un-necessary.

9. Rotational Lock - In case you don't want your ipad to rotate while you play a racing game or for similar purposes. (toggle switch on the side of the ipad under volume control keys)

10. Ibooks - makes reading books on ipad a great experience. Page flipping is EXTREMELY realistic.

11. Iwork - Keynote, Pages and Numbers (Powerpoint, Word and Excel alternatives) can be bought only for ipad on the app store. These apps are fully loaded with everything from graphical representation to image borders, reflections, frames, and shadows.

12. Mail, Calendar, Contacts and Notes interface - now have a sidebar showing all emails, saved notes, calendar events and contacts.

13. Battery Life - Upto 10 Hours of Video Playback

14. Safari Web Browsing - Supporsts all webpages and formats including HTML5 and CSS3 except flash for reasons, details of which have been given in the article
