The mac app store is now live, with a 1000 apps and counting. To install it simply update your computer to the latest software update for Snow Leopard by clicking on the apple icon (top left corner of menu bar), clicking "Software Update" and then downloading the latest update for Mac OS X. Hopefully, the app count on this store too will increase rapidly like in the iPhone App Store. The app store brought about another couple of nice touches. For example, now when Mac doesn't know what application to use to open files with a particular extension, it also gives the option to find an app in the App Store. Most of the apps in the app store are small files and download in a couple of seconds. Another nice touch to the app store is what happens when you click on download - the app's icon flies into the dock and starts downloading with a progress bar. And now only time will determine the success of the app store.
