iOS 7 Screenshot Gallery (65+ Photos and Counting)
As you may already know, iOS 7, the latest major upgrade to the iOS operating system was announced last week at the WWDC 2013 keynote along with the Mac OS X Mavericks (10.9), the new Mac Pro, iWork for iCloud and a new Macbook Air lineup.
iOS 7 is, as Apple says, the biggest change to iOS since the iPhone. And rightly so. Everything about the operating system has been completely redesigned, removing all instances of skeuomorphism (elements of the OS which attempted to depict real life elements) such as the yellow legal pad design of the inbuilt Notes app, etc)
Following its usual pattern, Apple has, unfortunately, not been made iOS 7 available to the public as yet, but only to Apple developers for beta testing to find and fix bugs that may be present in the OS.
As of right now, the developer beta version is only for iPhone, not iPad.

With WWDC '13 just round the corner, rumours, mockups and supposedly 'leaked photos' of the newly redesigned iOS are floating around the web a dime a dozen. One particularly interesting one is the interactive html mockup that works on any web browser, mobile or otherwise. You can use it, play around with it and see mockups of most of the applications. I was particularly impressed by the mockup of notification centre, mail, messages and reminders. Flipboard For iPad: Reading Made Fun
What is Flipboard ?
There are several ways to describe an app like Flipboard but in simple terms, Flipboard is a social reader. A visually stunning Social Reader which makes reading even the most most dull articles seem fun. Think Google Reader meets... Well, everything else.
Flipboard, unlike many other applications in this genre, provides an extremely versatile selection of feeds. From Facebook, Twitter and Google Plus to to RSS and Blogs, you can have your pick. Flipboard is unique in yet another aspect: it adds major web networks and blogs (Engadget, Appstorm, etc) for you to add to your Flipboard account. This is a particularly great feature since it makes the articles look much better than they would otherwise. Also, publishers have the option of requesting such a feed for their own blog or website.
User Interface and Appearance
To me, the appearance and user interface of an application is the most important aspect, even more than the use of the app itself. If it doesn't look good, I know I won't use it so I don't even bother to download it. On the flip side of the board (forgive the corny humour), there are also some apps, which, even if I have no use for, I would download it purely for its gorgeous looks and great UI. Flipboard is one of those few applications which falls in the intersection of use and appearance.
When you open Flipboard, you'll be greeted with a stunning screen which displays the cover stories in a neat layout typical of Flipboard. You'll be prompted to "flip" the page to reveal your personal Flipboard page. This Flipboard page, after several customizations will display all the feeds (Twitter, Facebook, RSS, Blogs) that you would like to read on a regular basis. You can also keep "flipping" to more pages based on the number of feeds that you have set up. Tap on one, and you'll be greeted with a beautiful screen with all the posts of that particular feed. At this screen, you can also browse through all the posts in the feed through a time bar at the bottom.
The Flipboard screen is also gifted with a little button on the top right which really makes the app look ebullient. Tapping it discloses a beautiful sidebar that pops out from the right hand side and allows you to add your accounts, feeds and a lot more.
But details aside, what's the best part about Flipboard ?

Cost, Alternatives and Rating
Alternatives: Zite and Pulse are similar apps for iPad that come close to achieving Flipboard equivalency but they still aren't the same
Rating: I'd have to be far too critical to give this app anything less than a ten, considering its features and price. Yet I'll succumb to its (very) few Shortcomings and rate this application:

What's in iOS 6 ? (WWDC '12)
As announced in the WWDC yesterday, iOS 6 has officially been launched as Apple's newest upgrade to their famous platform. Apple also announced and discussed several of the key features that have been integrated into the OS. Here they are:
Apple Maps
Through "a coordinated worldwide effort", Apple has set up its own Maps application, getting rid of Google's Maps application which was previously the standard on iOS. Apple's maps application sounds thoroughly promising with turn by turn navigation, Siri-integration, alternative routes, 3D Mapping, anonymous, real time traffic, etc. Read the full article.
Siri
The new and improved Siri has now made its way to iPad. With yelp and open table integration, Siri is better than ever and it's now on the iPad 2 and also on The New iPad. Another great addition to Siri (For iPhone and iPad) is the new "Eyes-Free" capability. Essentially this is just a 'Siri button' on the Steering Wheel of car manufactured by several major car companies that plan to add it within 12 months. Car manufacturers include BMW, GM, Audi, Land Rover, Jaguar, Toyota, Honda and Mercedes.
Siri has also been beefed up with its integration with Yelp, OpenTable, RottenTomatoes and Sports information. It can now also launch applications and post to Facebook. Lastly, Siri's finally gone international!
Passbook
A new stock application in iOS 6 which allows you to scan your gift cards, admission tickets, boarding passes and more onto your iPhone and then simply whip out your iPhone whenever you need them. Several major flight companies are apparently agreeing to this. Passbook also seems to be very efficient considering that it alerts you (push notification) to things such as a gate or terminal change. Also it appears to group multiple tickets together. So if you're boarding a train with two other people you needn't search your iPhone for all of your tickets, merely for one.
iPhone: Do Not Disturb
Everyone's been in a situation where they can't answer someone's call but can't simply hang up either for fear of offending the person. For such situations, Apple has provided a solution. There's now a new option on the incoming call to swipe up and you have the option of:

Everyone's been in a situation where they can't answer someone's call but can't simply hang up either for fear of offending the person. For such situations, Apple has provided a solution. There's now a new option on the incoming call to swipe up and you have the option of:
- Sending a preset text message such as "Can't talk right now... I'll call you later" or type a custom one.
- You can tell your iPhone to remind you to call the person back - in one hours, when you leave, when you get home or when you get to work.
If all else fails and you need a solution, simply go to your settings and enable "Do Not Disturb". Calls and Text Message will still be received but they won't light up your phone and neither will they make it ring or vibrate.
Another great addition to this is that you can screen your calls. So important calls such as from your boss will still come through but the more trivial ones will not. Also you'll have the ability to allow a call to come through it the person has called more than twice in three minutes. Apple couldn't have made this any better.
Facebook Integration

Just as Twitter was last year, Facebook has been integrated into iOS this year. Facebook - Integration on iOS 6 allows you to do everything you can with twitter-integration: Post updates, Share links, photos, emails, notes, etc. But it also includes some amazing new features such as: Contact and Calendar integration (Including contact info, pictures, email and birthday alerts) and also the ability to 'like' (Facebook like) Apps and Songs on the App Store and iTunes Store. You can even see which apps and songs your friends have liked.
Accessibility

| Accessibility and Guided Access will greatly help the the disabled |
After a lot of heartwarming stories of how the iPad has helped the disabled, Apple revealed their new Guided Access feature for iOS 6 which allows better access for the disabled. Parents of autistic children who have been greatly helped by the advent of the iPad can now disable certain inputs such as hardware buttons so that the child doesn't accidentally exit the application.
Other Features
Of the '200+' new features on iOS 6, here are some others that we currently know of:
- Safari gets upgraded with iCloud tabs, offline reading list and full-screen landscape view.
- The Stores get a makeover to bring 'a new kind of shopping experience'
- Mail too has a few new features such as VIP contacts (important) and the ability to add photos and videos to an email straight from the app.
- Find my iPhone and Find my Friends have too been upgraded presumably with Apple Maps.
- The iPad seems to have gained a clock application but so far, no Weather' or 'Stocks' applications on iPad.
- FaceTime now works over cellular. (Pretty cool)
- Shared Photo Stream - You can now share your photo stream with whoever you choose, over the cloud.
The Shortcomings
I've already listed most of the shortcomings of the WWDC 2012 but one of the major disappointments in relation to iOS 6 is it's incompatibility with the original iPad. Original iPad owners are now forced to make a choice: Buy "The New iPad" or stick with iOS 5.
Overall
Summing up, the WWDC '12 had some major announcements for Mac and iOS Users as well as for Prospective buyers. iOS 6 was a major part of the event, and aside from the obvious disappointments, it seems to be quite promising.

WWDC '12: The Shortcoming and the Disappointments
Apple's WWDC '12 Presentation just got over a few minutes back and although there was a great deal announced, which was, for the most part, very impressive, Apple still left a lot to be asked for.
- Despite what rumors suggested, the entire Mac lineup did NOT get an upgrade. The notebook lineup, however, got a significant improvement as well as a new member: The Next-Generation Macbook Pro: 15.4 Inch, Retina Display)
- iOS 6, albeit amazing, will NOT be supported on: The Original iPad, iPhone 3G or below, iPod Touch 3rd Generation or Below; Heartbreaking for owners of said devices but potentially very lucrative for Apple.
- Mountain Lion starts shipping in July, not before that. Not a free update either. However, it's still cheaper than Lion's update was.
- iOS 6 will not release till fall and only added one new application.
- No Apple TV SDK as opposed to rumors which were widely thought to be confirmed.
- No Siri on Mountain Lion, although Dictation was there
- Mountain Lion's Unified Safari Bar didn't make it to iOS 6.
- No new iTunes interface on Mac. Really need that!
- Nothing groundbreaking. Nothing Apple.

The touchscreen devices ( The iPod, iPad and iPod Touch ) which have managed to find their way into the houses of 200 million customers ( estimated ) are the foundation of all other capacitative touchscreen devices.
- More than 14 Billion applications for these devices have been sold via the iTunes App Store. - On an average, that's roughly 70 apps per device sold.
- More than 225 Million customers have iTunes App Store ID's with credit card information.
- ( That's more than the number of Devices Sold ).
- More than 130 Million books have been sold on the iBookstore
- 25 Million iPads have been sold to date.
- Roughly 80 Million iPod Touches and 225 Million iPod ( Difficult to be sure )
- And approximately ( probably more than ) 88 Million iPhones sold till date
- The iPhone 4 is the 2nd most popular camera device according to Flickr

iPod Touch - A Social Device ?
Is the iPod Touch being marketed as a social device ? With new and increasing ways of communicating with friends through this device its almost equivalent to a phone. In fact if it weren't for the lack of 3G, it could have been used as a phone. And not just any ordinary phone. An advanced touchscreen phone with internet capability and hundreds of thousands of applications and games to choose from. iMessage for messaging services. Skype and Facetime for calling ( video or audio calls ), Game centre for playing games and sharing scores with your friends, Camera for taking and sharing photos and Facebook, twitter and other social networking applications are also quite easily available ( generally as free apps ). Its possible that this is, intentionally or unintentionally, Apple's new method for marketing the Device. And its working.

On the 4th of October - iPhone 4S event, Apple also announced the release of a new iPod Touch with 2 color options - Black or White. With 2 cameras, HD video recording, Retina Display, Facetime, iCloud, iOS 5 ( including iMessage ) as well as the hundreds of thousands of applications and games designed for it, the most popular iPod is likely to become even more popular. Although it hasn't changed much, the vast array of capabilities of the brilliantly designed and cheaply priced iPod make it an attractive option. Starts at $199 for the 8GB model and a $100 increment for 32 and 64 GB models each.
What they missed out on
3G capability - People love the 3G capability of the iPad and iPhone. Using the internet while on the go is a very attractive and time-saving feature. Although it may not have had much use in the iPod Touch previously, with the coming of iMessage and the increasing use of facetime, 3G capability is almost a necessity in the device.

No Jailbreaking iOS 5 on iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch
iOS 5 which as we know, is the most advanced software update for iOS Devices ( iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch ) so far. However it will not be released by Apple until this fall. Apple developers on the other hand can download it today. And as rumour has it, Apple's latest software update will not allow downgrading to previous versions of iOS. Now our best guess is that this is Apple's attempt to prevent Jailbreaking and if a Jailbreak isn't released for iOS 5, this may result in us having to choose between Jailbreaking and iOS 5.

The iPad Tip Series 6 - Rotation Lock on iPad
The rotation lock disables iPad from automatically switching orientation upon detection through its sensors. However, it will not disable usage of the accelerometer. So you can still play games which include motion controls. To use the simply flick the switch on the right hand side of your iPad. Alternatively, double press the home button to activate multitasking slide the bottom panel bar towards the right. And touch the rotation lock button.
